Design and practical for everyday use, the Huawei Watch GT 3 is a connected watch that was unveiled a few months ago. It succeeds the GT 2 and offers a more intuitive interface thanks to HarmonyOS. This operating system will bring many improvements compared to previous generations, especially on the user experience. Accompanied by good autonomy, and performance at the rendezvous, it makes it the ideal companion, especially with 50 euros discount on its initial price.

The key takeaways from the Huawei Watch GT 3

  • An elegant design that goes to the essentials
  • A beautiful 1.32-inch AMOLED display with Always-On
  • Features related to sport and health
  • Good autonomy

Offered at 229.99 euros on release, Huawei’s GT 3 connected watch in 42 mm version loses 50 euros of its price thanks to the code AHWSCGT3 available on the manufacturer’s website. By applying this code, it costs you only 179.99 euros. The 46 mm model is also on sale at 199.99 euros using the same code.

A simple, yet neat design

To adapt to the thinnest or widest wrists, the Huawei Watch GT 3 is available in two versions: 42 mm or 46 mm. If the larger model has a rotating bezel, the smaller model has a more minimalist and elegant appearance. Once on your handle, this watch is a real gem. Huawei makes a beautiful copy here, with impeccable finishes, in the style of watchmaking watches. It offers a circular format with a beautiful 1.32-inch AMOLED screen (466 x 466 pixels), with thin borders to blend into the stainless steel case. In addition to being elegant, the watch will be very comfortable to wear thanks to its weight of only 35 grams.

A better designed interface and more precise monitoring

Offering a design that is always up to scratch, Huawei above all improves the user experience by integrating its operating system: HarmonyOS. This change allows applications to be installed directly from the watch. The manufacturer also indicates that it has increased the number of partnerships with developers, to download third-party applications from the AppGallery. Unfortunately, third-party applications are still very few despite the opening of the system to developers. By adopting this OS, the interface of the Huawei smartwatch is no longer the same: the applications are no longer in the form of a list, but appear in a grid, as on the Apple Watch. Other features include music control directly on the watch as well as the ability to make calls through a built-in microphone and speaker.

Connected watch obliges, the Watch GT 3 offers many sensors for an always complete follow-up, but improves on the health side. Indeed, this model benefits from a new version of the TruSeen heart rate sensor which is upgraded to version 5.0. Thanks to this, the watch offers an even more precise measurement of heart rate with a margin of error of less than 7%. It also allows you to measure the oxygen saturation in the blood, as well as a GPS to find the route of your workouts. Moreover, geolocation has also been improved so that GPS offers more precise and faster tracking. More surprising: the watch is able to measure the temperature of your skin and therefore warn you in case of fever.

Finally, in terms of autonomy, the Watch GT 3 is not demerit either since Huawei indeed announces up to 7 days of use for the 42 mm version – 4 days in intensive mode. If the 46 mm version is able to last 14 days in a row, the smallest model offers a very good score compared to an Apple Watch, for example. Note, however, that the autonomy is reduced by half if the Always-On Display feature is always activated.
