The release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ should allow several manufacturers to launch premium smartphones in the coming months
Like every year, Qualcomm should launch, during the summer, a new version of its processor for high-end smartphones. This year, it should logically be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. A few months since rumors swell around new smartphones that would be equipped with this mobile chip.
In a tweet posted on Tuesday, leaker Yogesh Brar, generally knowledgeable about the smartphone industry, provides an update on the upcoming smartphones expected and the schedule consumers should be entitled to.
The last batch of phones with SD888 and 8 Gen 1 will roll out in early July.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ phones will start rolling next month. May see 6-8 phones using it right now, biggest release will be Galaxy Fold 4, OnePlus Ultra, Xiaomi 12 series, X80 Pro+, Moto Frontier and more

“The latest batch of smartphones with Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will arrive by early July”, he says. What to indicate that the following smartphones will indeed benefit from the next chip from Qualcomm as he indicates in his second sentence:
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ smartphones will start rolling out the following month. I can already see 6-8 smartphones using it, the biggest releases being the Galaxy Z Fold 4, OnePlus Ultra, Xiaomi 12 line, X80 Pro+, Motorola Frontier among others.
If the first half generally gives us a first glimpse of the performance of the smartphones of the year, it is indeed in the second half that the manufacturers launch their most efficient models. This year 2022 should not escape the rule. As Yogesh Brar indicates, many premium smartphones are expected in the coming months.
Premium smartphones expected in the coming months
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable smartphone, we expect a Xiaomi 12 Ultra and a OnePlus 10 Ultra, both of which offer much better photo performance. Vivo should also present in the coming weeks a Vivo X80 Pro + putting the package on the photo. On the Motorola side, the Frontier has been talking about it for a few months and we expect a lot from this premium smartphone.
For now, remember that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is not yet official. We therefore do not know what characteristics this new SoC will offer. Logically, we can expect a gain in terms of computing performance and graphics power. Last month, the GSMArena site indicated that the mobile processor could be presented as early as May.
