May update is available

Like every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft deploys its Patch Tuesday. This cumulative update, which includes security patches, is no exception in May and is available for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Let’s start in this article with the update for Windows 11.

If you have installed Windows 11 on your PC, you can now download a new update. KB5013943, that’s its name, doesn’t include any new features, strictly speaking, but many minor improvements and security fixes. It also includes the improvements offered by the optional update KB5012643 that Microsoft distributed at the end of last month. Let’s see this in detail.

KB5013943 for Windows 11, what’s new?

Here is the changelog shared by Microsoft about the KB5013943 update for Windows 11. FYI, it is also available for those who have force-installed the new OS on a so-called incompatible system.

  • Addresses a known issue that may cause certain .NET Framework 3.5 applications to fail or not to open. Affected applications use some optional components in .NET Framework 3.5, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components.
  • Fixes a known issue that could cause your screen to flicker if you start your device in Safe Mode. The components that settle on explorer.exe such as File Explorer, Start Menu, and Taskbar, may be affected and appear unstable.
  • This security update includes improvements that result in part of update KB5012643 (released April 25, 2022)

How to install KB5013943 on your PC?

To install this new update on your PC, nothing could be simpler since you just have to go to the Windows 11 Settings (shortcut Win + I) and open Windows Update. Then, you can click on the search for new update button in order to be offered the May Patch Tuesday under the name: 2022-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5013943).
