Huawei launches the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket in France without Google or 5G

Already unveiled, the Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pocket were treated to a new presentation for their arrival in France. The Chinese giant still has ambition, but it still has to ignore Google services and 5G.

Far from the insolent success of its rival Xiaomi – which has just lifted the veil on its Redmi Note 11 series – Huawei wants to continue to exist internationally and especially in France. The Chinese group has just announced the combined arrivals of the P50 Pro and its foldable model, the P50 Pocket, in France. The opportunity for Huawei to refresh our memory of two models presented a few months ago.

Highly anticipated, the Huawei P50 Pro was made official in China in July 2021 and the manufacturer will therefore have taken six months before bringing it across borders. This premium-looking model benefits from a neat technical sheet and emphasizes the photo experience, one of the brand’s strengths. The design also leaves no room for doubt and consists of two imposing photo modules.

P50 Pro: a premium smartphone without 5G and Google services

For its P50 Pro, Huawei wants to focus on quantity and quality by offering four sensors. The 50-megapixel (f/1.8) main is accompanied by a 40-megapixel (f/1.6) monochrome sensor, a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) module with ultra-wide optics. angle and a telephoto lens of 64 megapixels (f / 3.5). The latter allows x3.5 optical and digital zoom up to 100x while a 13-megapixel camera is present at the front.

A neat configuration for a device that does not have (almost) not to be ashamed of the comparison with these main rivals. The Huawei P50 Pro has a 6.6-inch curved OLED screen with a definition of 2,700×1,228 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. propose the Chinese giant.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 remains a powerful chip, but Huawei has to settle for offering a 4G variant. High-end, its latest smartphone cannot therefore claim compatibility with the 5G network. On the other hand, we can count on the presence of 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for performance.

Even more than the absence of 5G, Huawei’s smartphone suffers above all from the absence of Google services. In terms of software, the P50 Pro is entitled to Android with the EMUI 12 overlay rather than HarmonyOS.

Finally, the Huawei P50 Pro has an IP68 certification and has dimensions of 158.8×72.8×8.5 mm for a weight of 195 grams. In terms of autonomy, it has a 4,360 mAh battery compatible with 66 W wired and 50 W wireless fast charging.
