Huawei denies the arrival of its alternative to Android in Europe

HarmonyOS will not arrive in Europe in the course of 2022. Several months after contradictory statements from a manager, Huawei has denied the deployment of its alternative to Android on smartphones sold outside China.

Cornered by American sanctions against it, Huawei found itself deprived of an Android license in 2019. Prohibited from preinstalling Google applications on its smartphones, the Chinese giant has registered a dramatic collapse in sales. To save the furniture, Huawei has developed an alternative operating system based on Android’s open source code: HarmonyOS.

Last year, the manufacturer, once on the way to dethroning Samsung on the world market, its mobile OS offered to its Chinese users, remained faithful despite its troubles with the United States. More than 100 million smartphones in China have been able to install HarmonyOS. After the success of its alternative in its native country, it was expected that Huawei would not take long to succeed HarmonyOS internationally, especially in Europe, where its sales are in free fall.
