Exynos 1280: more details on Samsung’s mid-range SoC

Better late than never. Samsung details, well after the release of the Galaxy A53 which is equipped with it, its Exynos 1280 chip, also present in two other terminals, the Galaxy A33 and Galaxy M33. A mid-range chipset whose official characteristics are now known more precisely.

Equipped with a Mali-G68 GPU, the chip includes eight cores on the CPU side divided into two Cortex-A78 and six Cortex-A55, accompanied of course by a 5G modem and an NPU dedicated to artificial intelligence. Information that we already had, but that Samsung is now completing in detail on the maximum capacities of this chip engraved in 5 nm, including the graphics performance that we had left unsatisfied during our tests.

We thus learn that the Exynos 1280 is compatible with Full HD screens up to 120 Hz, but also with photo sensors up to 108 megapixels or 32 megapixels with 4K video up to 30 fps (in playback and encoding). The chip puts on connectivity including 802.11ac MIMO wifi, Bluetooth 5.2 and even FM radio support.

Finally, let’s add that the Exynos 1280 is compatible with LPDDR4x RAM and with UFS 2.2 storage. All the characteristics of the chip are available on the official Samsung website.
