Apple released a release candidate of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to developers today, signaling that public release is near after the beta cycle that began for the update in early April, bringing upgrades and minor improvements including renaming iTunes Pass. to “Apple Account Card” in the Wallet app, new Request and Send buttons in Wallet for Apple Cash, and new Wi-Fi signal indicators in the Home app.
iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are relatively minor updates over previous versions such as iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, watchOS 8.5, tvOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 which enabled Universal Control, 37 new emoji characters, a new feature that lets users unlock their iPhone while wearing a face mask without having to authenticate with an Apple Watch, and more.
Apple is also rolling out release candidates of watchOS 8.6, tvOS 15.5, and macOS Monterey 12.4 to developers today.
